Waste Management Problem and Resource Recycling Policy;

Some Remarks and A Survey

Abstract

Recently waste management has become one of the most important problems in Japan. In particular, in Tokyo the last reclaimed land site for disposal will be filled within 2 years. The recent waste management problem is caused by the rapid growth of disposed wastes attributed to firms and households. In this paper, we first analyze and remark on the state of the waste management problem. Next we deal with a survey of resource recycling policy in Japan and advanced Western countries. Last, we introduce and criticize recent waste management and resource policies within the Japanese Government.
