Abstract

Today, the enviornmental problems are being watched by many people around the world as being the biggest and worst problem. In this situation, the increasing amount of waste is becoming the main concern in Japan. Decreasing the amount of waste is thought to be the clue to solve the problem. There are two kinds of waste, one is DOMESTIC-WASTE and the other is INDUSTRIAL-WASTE. The government and the industrial circle both have the duty of decreasing INDUSTRIAL-WASTE, and also the citizens and the local government play a large role in decreasing DOMESTIC-WASTE. To decrease DOMESTIC-WASTE, we should change our life-style and do something effective. For example, 1 Value everything. 2 Don't purchase unnecessary items, etc. It might be unpreventable that the amount of waste will continve to increase more and more. However, the best way to decrease waste is "to reproduce waste" and this system is called "recycling" . Hiratsuka city has been using this system since 1977. And now we use an advanced system. We call it "the new HIRATSUKA CITY'S system" . This system proves to be effective. At this time I'm going to report about the system and its efficiency, and about using city taxes for recycling.
