Studies on Leachate Quantity and Capacity Calculation of Leachate Control Basin for Solid Waste Landfill Site

Abstract

The calculation method for leachate quantity through solid waste landfill has not been established yet. Previously we studied the applicability of the leachate runoff analysis applying the tank model method and others based on the data observed at landfill sites without lining system.

This paper describes the analysis of leachate quantity and capacity calculation of leachate control basin, using the tank model method, the mass-balance method and the rational method to simulate the leachate quantity data observed at the landfill site with a lining system.

Consequently, a time series of leachate runoff can be simulated by the tank model method more than by other methods. And also, it was derived that the capacity of leachate control basin for the capacity of a leachate treatment plant is remarkably dependent upon the method of calculation for leachate quantity.
