Countermeasures for Dioxin Problems Associated with MSW Incineration

Abstract

"The Kyoto conference on Dioxin problem of MSW incineration 1991" was held in Kyoto, last May. The author had a chance to present a summary report in the last session. Countermeasures for Dioxin problems associated with MSW incineration are considered with in the memo and other relevant materials. First of all, the background for having this important international conference was explained. And then, the importance of MSW incineration and countermeasures for Dioxin problems are pointed out. The risk communication process regarding the Dioxin problem was reviewed until the Dioxin control guideline for MSW incineration was formulated. Some of the research results of the Dioxin study were introduced and remaining issues were pointed out.
