Abstract

The United States as well as major European industrialized countries have adopted new laws and developed new waste management policies to promote waste recycling and minimization since 1980s. While there are many common features in their waste management policies, legislative structures and policy means including economic incentive programs differ mainly because of differences of socio-economic, cultural and political backgrounds.

Key words: waste management policy, law, economic incentives, 7 industrialized countries, packaging waste
