Abstract

At present, in Japan city-dwellers package their household refuse in plastic bags and carry the bags to specified places on the street where refuse collection vehicles pick them up. The coming new age and modernized city life demands a more rational refuse collection system. For this purpose we have proposed a new refuse collection system. It is a small size conveying pipeline system characterized by the use of vacuum type collection vehicles. This paper describes the suction condition of vacuum collection vehicle by transportation test of imitation refuse. The best suited blower capacity is 80m3/min and suction pressure is -4,000mmAq at the standard transportation pipe model, which has 180m overall pipe length and 254.2mm inner diameter.

Key words: garbage, refuse collection, refuse collection vehicle.
