Abstract

The drinking water quality standard registered in the Waterworks Law was revised completely from the exsting standard in December 1992. The background of the revision of the standard was described through the analysis of the situation of water environment and the status and quo of health risks management of hazardous substances in drinking water. The out-line of the revised standard was introduced, and author discussed that the difference of the concept of revised and old standard. Then the reason why the environmental quality strandard was also revised according to the revision of drinking water quality standard was also discussed.
