Hazardous waste, which is specially controlled waste defined in the 1991 Waste Disposal Law, has to be disposed of according to its characteristics. Wastes are classified into 3 categories according to their potential risk, and 3 types of landfill structures are considered to be appropriate technologies for those. Isolated landfill structure is required for hazardous waste. Stable type and control type are two other types of landfill structures.
