Abstract

As the ambient water quality standards relating to the protection of human health have been revised, the wastes disposal standards have also been revised. In the revision of the wastes disposal standards, 13 items other than the previously included trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene have been added, and permissible limits of Pb and As are strengthened. Four other items which have been newly added to the substances requiring special care in the Annex to the London Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter, have also been added to the standards for ocean dumping.
