Abstract

Volatile organic compounds, such as chlorinated organic compounds and aromatic hydrocarbons, polluted multi-compartments of the environment including air, surface water, ground water, soil and sediment. Their uses, properties and pollution sources are introduced. The measuring methods, status of pollution, improving and control methods for air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution are summarized and discussed. The wastes containing volatile organic compounds and their treatment methods are also mentioned.
