Abstract

The Law for Recycling of Containers and Packaging which was promulgated in June, 1995, has been enacted since April, 1997. The law gives responsibility to municipal governments for the collection of sorted recyclable waste such as glass containers, PET bottles, iron and aluminum cans and paper cartons (mainly for milk), and gives responsibility to businesses for production of recycled products. It is also planned that all types of paper and plastic containers will be subject to this law, starting from the year 2000. Therefore, preparations are now underway for enforcement of the revised law.
