Abstract

Regarding the provision of larger designated areas for waste disposal with the aim of decreasing dioxin emissions, there are many issues and problems involved. It has been recognized that there are a number of municipalities which will be unable to accept large regional waste disposal, if their incineration capacities exeed more than 100t/day. Issues such as the application of these incineration capacities and the reduction of transport costs add to the area specific problems of variable regional characteristics. There are some strategies which could solve these problems. For example: one is the development of high performance small incinerators for the emission control of dioxins and another is the reduction of transportation costs by using RDF.
