Energy, Resources and Solid Waste

Abstract

Solid waste management should be considered in close relation to the conservation of both energy and resources. Solid waste has to be built into the cycle of mining, production, consumption and waste discharge. In this paper, the energy and resources situation in Japan is firstly outlined, and after that the importance of the recovery of energy and metal resources within the solid waste thermal treatment system is discussed.
