Abstract

Reference materials No.1 and No.2 of waste landfill soil were produced by mixing, sieving and homogenization processes with covering soil for a layer of waste substances in a landfill. The reference and semi-reference values of 16 elements (Al, Ba, Ca, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Sc, Si, Sr, Ti, V and Zn) in the bulk content were statistically determined based on analytical data by ICP/AES, XRF, PIXE and INAA. As these kinds of standard reference materials of soil/sediment in the landfill site are very rare, they should be useful materials for evaluation and monitoring of pollution in the landfill site. Monitoring data of sediment and leachate in several landfill sites were compared with elemental values of the reference material.
