Abstract
The world market scale of polyester plastic has reached 30 million tons annually and is still expanding. As a matter of course, the recycling of polyester plastic as plastics is becoming more and more important. Polyester materials are usually used in combination with other composite materials, colorants, plasticizers, processing chemicals, and readily undergo hydrolysis in remolding processes. In this regard, monomer recycling methods are now attracting keen attention as the solution for this expanding emission of contaminated polyester materials. In the present review, recently developed monomer recycling technologies are explained in collaboration with two companies, i.e., TEIJIN Co. and AIES Co, both of which have initiated their factory-scale monomer recycling facilities.
