The special session of IWWG-ARB 2025 will be held at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City, Philippines on March 11, Time:10:30-12:00(PST/GMT +8, Phlippines time).
We have witnessed various natural disasters in recent years, such as earthquakes, typhoons/hurricanes, etc. Once a vast natural disaster happens, a tremendous amount of waste is generated. Properly treating and managing such disaster waste, “Disaster Waste Management (DWM),” is a critical issue for us.
In response to the risk of such disaster waste, several “guidelines for DWM” have been developed in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Observing such guidelines, we realize a standard issue: “How can we estimate the amount of disaster waste?” and “How can we implement DWM including estimation?”
In this session, we invite academia from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Japan to discuss “Estimating the Amount of Disaster Waste in Southeast Asia. The key is “1. the methodology of estimation” and “2. the implementation of methodology”.
